The First LeForts'

The story goes that The first LeFort's came to Canada around 1806.They came from St Malo France, three brothers named François Marie, Servant & Nazaire, Along with two others Pierre Chapdelaine and Louis Lehuede . They deserted a french frigate and landed at Cape North, from there they walked to Cheticamp. The people of Cheticamp thought that they were enemies and told them to go away. Making their way to the Magdalen Islands, where they settle for a time and returning a few years later, François LeFort with Pierre Chapdelaine and Louis Luedee returned to Cheticamp, without the two brothers of François. To date we do not know what happened to the two brothers of François, there are LeFort's living in Quebec and it maybe that these are the decedents of the two brothers, Servant and Nazaire.The parents of François, Servant, and Nazaire LeFort were from PEI. I do not know the names of these Ancestors but some day I will. François Marie LeFort Born: c1780 St. Malo, France from parents born in PEI. Married Anne Gaudet born, 22 Jan 1780 Anne died 12 Feb. 1821, in Cheticamp.
